Hibiscus

This is an adaptation of a Deborah Kakalia hibiscus design. The setting is original and uses the design in two different sizes. The hand dyed fabric is by Judy Robertson of Just Imagination. Hand appliqued and hand quilted.
Four Block = Reduced

The design was adapted from a picture in an ad for an antique quilt pattern. Most of the appliqué for this quilt was done on the bus as I commuted to work. Hand appliqued and hand quilted. This quilt has been juried into and won ribbons in many shows.
Tula Pink 100 - Reduced
Joy

A Mod Quilt Squad challenge: create a quilt with one word, in turquoise fabric. The hardest part was choosing a word and I wanted the quilt design to represent the word as well as just displaying the word itself. Exuberant Joy!!

Sometimes I just like to challenge myself and see how small I can make something. I took the Tula Pink 100 Modern Quilt blocks and reduced the original 6” blocks to 1.5”, one quarter size.
Tropical Complement

Quilters Anonymous guild in Seattle challenge. Use one of the colors on a 12 color wheel, chosen by drawing a paint chip, and its complement. I used red violet and its complement of yellow green. I appliqued tropical leaves and created a multi layer look quilt. You also had to attach the chosen paint chip to the quilt. My quilt won the challenge. Hand appliqued and hand quilted.
Leftovers

I used leftover squares and strips from other projects made with hand dyed fabrics from Judy Robertson of Just Imagination. Most of the leftovers were of a similar color family so the blue made a nice contrast. Hand quilted.
